If you have diabetes and hold or are applying for a Queensland driver's licence, you are legally required to notify Queensland Transport and provide a medical certificate.
Medical certificate required every 2 years. Commercial drivers require specialist (endocrinologist) assessment.
Medical certificate required every 5 years. Some medications that can cause hypos may need more frequent review.
Truck, bus, taxi & rideshare drivers on insulin must be assessed by a specialist (endocrinologist). Annual review required.
You must still notify Queensland Transport. Medical certificate may be required depending on complications.

Vision assessment and review of any diabetic eye disease (retinopathy)
Review of diabetes control and recent pathology results
Review of home glucose monitoring or CGM data (3 months for commercial)

Completion of Queensland Transport Medical Certificate form
